On November 20, 2006, M+R has officially opened in the city of Shenzhen its latest office in China.

Shenzhen, the metropolis just north of Hong Kong, has seen a tremendous growth over the past decades. As a result, the city has grown at an unprecedented rate; the greater Shenzhen area today counts more than 20 million inhabitants. With a turnover of over 16 million TEUs, Shenzhen's three ports (Yantian, Shekou and Chiwan) ranked No. 4 on the list of the words biggest ports in 2005. It is expected to soon overtake Hong Kong, currently the biggest container port in the world.

Due to the close proximity to Hong Kong, M+R Asia has for a long time had a delegation in Shenzhen with a Delegation, while operational aspects were taken care of by the Hong Kong office. In view of the increasing importance of Shenzhen, M+R Asia no has opened a fully operational office with some 25 staff there. The office reports directly to M+R Hong Kong.
