Successor arrangements concluded –

Management and capital stay in one pair of hands

Muttenz, 10 April 2006.

In the course of generation changes at the head of M+R Spedag, Daniel Richner has taken over all shares in the Group from his father, Hansruedi Richner. Daniel Richner has been CEO of the logistics company since 2001.  With the successor arrangements finalized today, Daniel Richner will also become President of the Board of the M+R Spedag Group.

With the retirement of Hansruedi Richner, a classic entrepreneurial career molded by the pioneering spirit comes to an end. He was one of the founders of the company in 1952, and during 50 years developed it to become one of the leading family-owned businesses in the forwarding industry. Hansruedi Richner will remain associated with the firm as honorary President.  "I am glad that the successor arrangements could be settled in a satisfactory way for all those involved. With this, a new area in the history of the company can begin."

Parallel to studying economics at the University of Basel, Daniel Richner also trained in forwarding, afterwards building up the Asia business from Singapore and Hong Kong for many years.  In 2001 he became CEO, thus acquiring the optimal requirements needed to assume comprehensive responsibility for the whole Group.  "My commitment is a clear signal to our staff and to our customers and partners. M+R Spedag will remain an independent group of companies in the world-wide logistics market. Well-positioned in a growing industry and in the emerging markets of Asia, we have every reason to be optimistic for the future."

The M+R Spedag Group is a leading, independent Swiss logistics company. With around 1000 employees, it has a turnover of over CHF 400 million, of which 65% comes from abroad.  The group is operational in 58 locations in 23 countries with its own companies, and has a world-wide network of partners.
